On the 25th of November, the matches of the 4th round of the Group Stage of the European League EHF took place. In action for their respective clubs, there were several Portuguese players as well as the Sporting CP team that faced IKF Krisitianstad in Sweden and won 27-32 with an excellent performance.
In what was yesterday’s only game in Group A, Fenix Toulouse Handball from centre back/left-back Gonçalo Vieira hosted the Spanish team from Abanca Ademar Leon in a game that ended in a draw at 28 goals. The team of the young Portuguese centre back played the 1st game since the departure of one of their best players, the centre back Luc Steins who moved to Paris Saint-Germain, and after having left for the break losing by 3 goals (14- 17), managed to react to the disadvantage in the 2nd half having achieved a draw in the end. Gonçalo Vieira managed to score 3 goals in 4 shots. Toulouse with this draw is now in 3rd place with 4 points in 4 games, while Ademar Leon is in 2nd with the same 4 points, but one game less.
In group B, in addition to Sporting CP’s victory in Sweden against Kristianstad, there are 2 more games. C.S.Dinamo Bucharesti won in Romania by 29-27 against the French team of USAM Nimes Gard. At half-time Presov already lost by 5 goals (18-13) and in the 2nd half that advantage increased even more, with the final result of 35-27. However, the great individual highlight of the night goes to the left-back of Nuno Santos’ team, Oliver Rabek, who scored 10 goals in 14 shots. The Portuguese right wing managed to score three times in four shots. As for the group’s classification, Füchse Berlin and Sporting CP lead with 4 points in 2 games, with Krisitianstad having the same points, but with 4 games played. Gilberto Duarte, Montpellier’s left-back, and Hugo Lima, Besiktas center, faced each other in a game that didn’t have much history. In fact, the French team ended up starring in the great performance of the night by giving the Turkish team no chance and winning by 40-16.
